Dignified is producing a documentary series that will follow and document the effects of violence on communities.
Dignified will explore the “Why’s” of a crime, the “What’s” that led up to this point, the “Where’s” did things go astray, and the “How’s” to “heal” from these issues. It has been said that “A community is made like a tripod, it has three legs: Home, School, Church. When one of the three legs are not in place, the tripod wobbles.” Let’s examine this “tripod” and see how we can position the legs to be made strong and heal at the weaken pieces. Through the documentary a lens will be provided to share the perspectives of individuals in the community, including youth, business owners, and organizations with the same goal in mind. The documentary is being produced by Dignified Digital as an independent venture to provide support for raising awareness of the problem and efforts to address violence in the Greater Kansas City community.
The driving force behind this documentary series project is to educate and bring awareness of the problem of violence in the Greater Kansas City Area. Violence is a learned behavior. When we think of violence, we tend to think of the physical violence. Violence can be physical, emotional, and psychological, verbal, and psychosocial to name a few. Through the implementation of prevention, education and intervention strategies violence can be appropriately addressed and healed. Violence in the Greater Kansas City Area is not only a law enforcement issue, but it is a community issue, which needs to be addressed through the development and implementation of community efforts to support change for those who are at risk.
